At Braun Ambulances, we’re always looking for innovations that can help improve our processes. It’s not always about working harder – it’s about working smarter. With the help of 18-year-old Troy Weaks, we’re creating new ways to do just that!

Troy is a high school senior at Van Wert City Schools and has always had an interest in engineering and art. Troy participates in a program through the school system called the Career Education Opportunity (CEO) program, which matches participating students with employers that offer internship opportunities. Each day, these students spend time at their internships before returning to school. Because of Troy’s interest in engineering and the STEM classes he had taken at school, the program’s coordinator thought he would be the perfect match for Braun.

He was right! Troy works at Braun for 80 minutes every day, reporting to Kevin Cassidy, our facilities manager. Troy has been working on creating a worktable that will allow our production workers to assemble and test our E-Z O2 lifts more easily. Troy’s worktable will improve workplace safety and decrease production time! Troy’s worktable design should be produced by the end of January.

Thanks to his time at Braun, Troy has decided to pursue a degree in industrial engineering. We can’t wait to see what else he comes up with!
