Braun Ambulances to Attend Pinnacle Conference

Pinnacle 2018

Braun Ambulances will be attending this year’s Pinnacle 2018 EMS Conference & Exhibition in Phoenix, Arizona. This will be the first time we will be attending the Pinnacle conference and exhibition, and we couldn’t be more excited. The event will take place at JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort July 23rd-27th, 2018 and feature a variety of seminars, conferences, special meetings, bonus sessions, an exhibition in the Grand Sonoran Ballroom with over 70 exhibitors, and vehicle displays located outside. Braun will be participating in the exhibition portion at booth #30, as well as displaying two ambulances outside.

Pinnacle is a conference and event that allows EMS leaders, various departments, and healthcare leaders to network and learn from others in their field. The event starts Monday, July 23rd with breakfast and a day of power seminars from various speakers and presenters. Tuesday features power seminars on hot topics in EMS, special meetings, and the main conference and opening reception. The main conference events continue through Thursday, with bonus sessions finishing out the day on Friday.

Braun will have two ambulances on display at Pinnacle 2018 – a Braun Factory Demo unit and a custom unit from Gold Cross Mayo Clinic. Braun’s factory demo is an Express that features Techniq Chevron strip lighting, EZ-Glide sliding door, mirrored stainless steel on street side and curb side of the unit, blue and white LED dome lights, and MasterTech FleetConnect. The Gold Cross Mayo Clinic unit is a custom Express with EZ-Glide sliding door, new Whelen Surface max lighting, custom layout with no CPR seat for added storage, custom exterior layout, and glove boxes on the street side near the rear of the unit.

Chad Brown, VP of Sales and Marketing for Braun, and Jason Adair, Regional Sales Manager, will be attending the conference. “We are looking forward to our first time showcasing our vehicles at Pinnacle. Our new partner, Demers Ambulances, will also be in attendance and we are all excited to see new and current customers at the show!” says Chad Brown. Chad and Jason will be at Braun’s display in booth #30 as well as showcasing the display units outside. This event will be a great place to network and discuss hot topics in the world of EMS, and we can’t wait to showcase our units there!

Looking for a great price on a new ambulance for sale?

When a department makes the decision to buy an ambulance, they must take a lot of things into consideration. In addition to the features of the ambulance for sale, the department must also consider their budget and the safety of their crew and patients. Sometimes, a custom-built ambulance isn’t feasible financially, and a used ambulance for sale might have too many miles or be in poor condition, making the unit unsafe. Where can these departments find an ambulance for sale that has state-of-the-art features at a price that’s reasonable?

Demo ambulances offer a solution when you’re looking for an ambulance for sale that won’t break the bank or take too long to make. Demo units work to showcase the latest features in our ambulances and give people a feel for what they can expect in a Braun, but can be sold at any time. These units come with low mileage, a lower price point, and high standards. Some people are skeptical of purchasing a demo ambulance for sale because they think there’s a “catch” – why is the price lower? Why is this ambulance for sale already; shouldn’t there be updates to it before it’s sold?

With Braun, there is no catch. We offer a variety of demo units, providing you with an in-stock ambulance for sale that is top-notch and Built for Life. Our demo units feature some of the most innovative options, such as LiquidSpring Suspension, EZ O-2 tank lifts, and our MasterTech FleetConnect system. Our demo ambulances offer the same peace of mind that comes with any new ambulance for sale from Braun. If you want to check out a demo ambulance for sale, please contact us or your local Braun ambulance dealer today!

Safely Remounting Ambulances: Where are the standards?

Over the last decade or so, the need for remounting ambulances has grown. Remounting units can save departments and organizations anywhere from 20-50% over buying new, and since many cities and departments are facing economic issues, remounted ambulances allow for upgrades, rebuilds, and repairs at a cost that is much more budget-friendly. Since the numbers of remounted ambulances are growing, the industry has decided that it’s time to think about what safety standards should be met specifically on remounts.

In July of 2016, the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) published the Ground Vehicle Standard (GVS) for new ambulances, but what about remounted ambulances? In reality, there are currently few to no standards that remounted ambulances must meet detailed in the GVS. This has prompted a second version, focused on safety requirements for remounted ambulances. GVS V2.0 is planned to be released in July 2019.

The CAAS and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) are working to define remount specifications or requirements for those who manufacture and remount ambulances. The biggest challenge that the CAAS and NFPA are facing is that the federal government classifies the company that will perform the remount as a manufacturer; that means that the company who remounts the ambulance oversees bringing the remounted model up to current Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).

While bringing units up to FMVSS is easy on new ambulances, it can be a challenge on remounted ambulances. How can those who are remounting ensure that FMVSS requirements for installing new seating positions are met when customers request new configurations? What about the requests for new SAE safety features in older patient compartments? What about credentials like liability insurance for the builder, engineering analysis and standards compliance, and end-product testing? GVS announced the formation of an Ambulance Remount Work Group, who will develop recommendations for remount standards.

What’s the benefit of remounting with Braun? We manufacture new ambulances and are well-aware of the latest safety standards for new units. Our skilled and knowledgeable team knows how to help maximize your investment on an existing ambulance, while making sure your unit meets the latest industry standards for new. As the manufacturer of your original equipment, we also know the history of your unit from design and build to factory-direct service and maintenance.

With Braun Ambulances, safety is always our focus. Factory direct remounts will ensure your ambulances are up to current standards. In addition, members of our internal team are actively attending meetings for the Ambulance Remount Work Group and staying abreast on the forthcoming remount specific standards. Our goal is to stay ahead of the changes and make certain we are doing everything at the manufacturer level to keep your patients and crew safe, whether in a new ambulance or remounted ambulances done at our facility.

Smart Technology for Braun Ambulances Wins 2018 JEMS Hot Product

Braun Ambulances was recently honored by the Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS) for our work in creating the first connectivity platform specifically for ambulances, MasterTech FleetConnect. In partnership with IDEX Fire and Safety, we’ve created a product that is designed to help lengthen vehicle life, reduce unplanned downtime, and empower remote maintenance of ambulances in real-time. MasterTech FleetConnect was named a 2018 JEMS Hot Product.

What is a JEMS Hot Product?

Distinction as a JEMS Hot Product is a notable honor in the Fire & EMS Industry; it is awarded only to products that are deemed innovative and practical. A team of judges selected by JEMS at the 2018 EMS Today Conference and Exposition reviewed 64 product submissions for this year’s contest. The judging panel consisted of EMS product specialists, educators, physicians, managers, and paramedics. The group reviewed products that are designed to improve the delivery of optimal emergency medical care from EMS providers while ensuring safety, efficiency and comfort for the patient. Each product was rated on its originality, functionality, ease of use, and need in the EMS setting. MasterTech FleetConnect was one of the products awarded the title of 2018 Hot Product.

MasterTech FleetConnect Makes Vehicles Safer

We created MasterTech FleetConnect in cooperation with IDEX Fire and Safety to make vehicles safer and to make them last longer. For our dealers, the product allows for a holistic view of the vehicles in a given area, giving operators the chance to proactively monitor for vehicle issues and alerts. For those at the municipality level, MasterTech FleetConnect provides 24/7 remote support from the dealer network and from us directly, allowing for the diagnosis of issues remotely. This allows for real-time alerts based on events and issues with ambulances. In addition, all ambulances equipped with the product can be updated remotely, providing ambulances that can be updated in near real-time.  This is all made possible by using Microsoft’s secure cloud platform. Richard Zak, a member of Microsoft’s U.S. State & Local Government team, says that “IDEX Corporation and Braun Ambulances are making vehicles smarter and better able to support the EMS mission.”

Our own Chad Brown, VP of Sales and Marketing, says “By making MasterTech FleetConnect available to our customers, it will be the first time they can proactively manage all aspects of their Braun ambulance. It monitors the chassis and ambulance module. This is a big win, whether you are a single ambulance user or have a fleet of a hundred ambulances. We can now remotely dial in to the vehicle, change programming and work to prevent any catastrophic failure by monitoring real-time data.”

Our friends at IDEX feel the same way; Jeff Zook, Marketing Manager for Connected Solutions at IDEX Fire and Safety says, “Our goal is to create solutions that increase operator safety and return the most precious commodity in a 21st-century economy back to first responders – time.”

As always, a huge thank you goes out to our entire team here at Braun. Without you, we never would have been able to earn this distinction. Keep up the great work!

Braun Ambulances’ Plans for EMS Week 2018

Braun Ambulances will be celebrating EMS Week 2018! This year’s activities will be celebrated May 20-26th and will be focused around the theme “Stronger Together.” “Last year’s devastating disasters and mass casualty incidents revealed the strength, dedication, and willingness of the EMS community to come to together, across the nation, in a time of dire need to aid our country,” says Dr. Paul D. Kivela, president, ACEP. “Now, more than ever, we must come together and honor the sacrifices that the EMS community makes by increasing awareness and finding opportunities to protect and pursue the interests of our nation’s EMS professionals.” This is the inspiration for this year’s theme and we’ll proudly be honoring it at Braun Ambulances with some special events.

History of EMS Week

Each year, EMS Week is celebrated in the third week of May. In the early 1980s, the ACEP (American College of Emergency Physicians) began collecting and distributing ideas and information for EMS Week. The ACEP printed, prepared, and distributed EMS Week planning kits; currently, about 25,000 EMS Week Planning Guides are distributed to EMS Services, fire departments, rescue squads, volunteer groups, and emergency departments across the United States, free of charge. They are distributed by the ACEP and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). Each year, these guides contain ideas for local activities in celebration of EMS Week and highlight the programs that were hosted the year before.

What’s It All About?

This year’s EMS Week will cover one theme per day. These themes include Education Day, Safety Day, EMS for Children Day, Save-A-Life (CPR and Stop the Bleed) Day, and EMS Recognition Day. EMS Week themes aim to not only celebrate and honor those who serve, but to educate the public on how the EMS System works and why it’s so important for communities.

How Will Braun Ambulances Celebrate?

Now through May 19th, Braun Ambulances is accepting image submissions from our online community. These images should feature at least two crew members in front of or inside a Braun ambulance (or ambulances – the more, the merrier!) These photo submissions will be shared on Braun Ambulances’ social media sites during EMS Week (May 20th-26th) as part of the “Stronger Together” theme.

Each day during EMS Week, Braun Ambulances will also be doing an educational social post to create awareness regarding the EMS profession. In addition, we will have giveaways that coincide with each of these posts. You can help spread awareness for EMS services by sharing those daily posts and be entered to win a prize pack by doing so. Make sure you follow our Facebook page to see when the posts go up!

Here at Braun Ambulances, we know we’re stronger together. Showcase your ambulances and your crew and show us how you’re stronger together, too! You may email your photos to social@braunambulances.com prior to May 19th. We look forward to seeing and sharing your submissions!

Building Ambulances and Seeking Excellence

Braun Ambulances is proud to announce our recent recognition by The Partnership for Excellence (TPE). We were awarded the Silver Award for our commitment to excellence, and we’re thankful to all our team members at Braun Ambulances for making this award possible.

The Partnership for Excellence (TPE) is a nonprofit organization that serves Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia, and helps educate and recognize organizations regarding performance excellence. They do so by providing tools and education to leaders in businesses, schools, health care organizations, government, and nonprofit agencies to ensure that they achieve excellence. They also take the time to award those, like Braun Ambulances, who are committed to excellence.

The Silver Award is awarded to organizations that are part of TPE’s Examining Level. To achieve this award, Braun Ambulances was evaluated by a board of examiners in seven areas: strategy, customers, measurement, analysis, and knowledge management, workforce, operations, and results. During the evaluation process, we were able to showcase our mission to deliver an “exceptional customer experience from a premium ambulance manufacturer.”

Braun Ambulances will be honored at TPE’s annual Quest for Success Conference at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio on September 10-11, 2018. All award recipients will be presented with their awards at a banquet on September 11, 2018. We attended the event in 2017 as a recipient of the Pioneer Award and are looking forward to going again this year as a Silver Award winner.

Thank you to everyone at Braun Ambulances for your part in this recognition! As we continue to grow, we’re already seeing the benefits of partaking in this endeavor, particularly in the customer experience feedback. We’re so proud of the work you’re putting in to ensure that our end customers receive a premium product.  We will continue to manufacture ambulances that exceed expectations in safety, quality, and customer service.

Ambulance Manufacturer, Braun Industries, Celebrates International Firefighters Day

While “May the fourth be with you,” is a popular phrase for May 4th each year, a lesser known designation for the day is International Firefighters Day. Each year on May 4th, we honor firefighters by remembering those that have died serving their communities. In addition, it’s a day to publicly show our support and appreciation for firefighters who continue to protect us day in and day out.

The History of International Firefighters Day

On December 2, 1998, five firefighters tragically lost their lives in Australia. Garry Vredeveldt, Chris Evans, Stuart Davidson, Jason Thomas, and Matthew Armstrong were responding to a large bush fire in Linton, Australia after being called in through mutual aid. While en route to the hot zone, the wind shifted direction and engulfed their truck in flames, killing all five members. In response to the event, JJ Edmondson – a volunteer Lieutenant and firefighter in Victoria, Austraila – set a New Year’s resolution for herself to organize an international day for firefighters to be recognized.

JJ and numerous others worked together to create International Firefighters Day, starting in 1999. May 4th was chosen because it’s the feast of Saint Florian, which has been a celebrated tradition in Europe for more than 150 years.  Saint Florian was a Christian holy many who died in c. 304 AD. He is the patron saint of Austria, along with firefighters, chimney sweeps, and brewers. He was the first known commander of one firefighting squad in the Roman Empire, making the day of his feast a perfect fit for the new IFFD observance.

The IFFD Ribbon

International Firefighters Day is recognized with a dual colored ribbon. Red represents fire. Blue represents water. These are the two main elements that firefighters work with. They are also colors internationally recognized with emergency service.

How Local Departments Commemorate IFFD

On the first Sunday in May at noon, fire stations internationally mark the day through a Sound Off. A Sound Off is where fire sirens are set off for 30 seconds. It is followed by a minute of silence in memory of and respect for firefighters who have passed away. This year, the IFFD Sound Off will take place on Sunday, May 6th at 12:00 pm local time.

How Braun Ambulances Observes International Firefighters Day

Here at Braun Ambulances, we are always thankful for the important work firefighters do – and the incredible sacrifices they make for their communities. As an ambulance manufacturer, we will be taking the time to help spread the word and create more awareness for this special day. We hope you will too! We will also honor those that have left us, as well as those that continue to serve.
