Summary of Responsibilities

The Quality Engineer will work to assure the quality and consistency of products is maintained. Reviews quality standards, tolerances and process/product changes. Analyzes specifications and processes. Investigates and analyzes quality concerns, leads problem solving activities and suggests/implements solutions.

Summary of Activities

Responsibilities Activities
Process Improvements Works with engineering to develop simple and effective methods of testing and inspecting products and processes
Provides support to SCM by conducting supplier audits, supplier approvals and supplier corrective actions
Proactively supports the implementation of quality management system improvements
Communication Provides liaison support between the Quality Assurance Team and all other functional areas within the organization
Perform, chart and analyze results of product and/or process audits
Operations Provides support on compliance and regulatory interpretation, calibration, materials review and work instructions
Provides support to MFT and SCM to manage defective material/rework activities
Monitors all mft processes through audits and evaluations for compliance with procedures and work instructions
Monitors Value Stream activities and assists in resolving quality issues
Performs other duties as assigned
Leadership Leads process improvement teams to improve quality and to optimize mft output
Supports teamwork to attain team objectives
Functions as the Change Coordinator as part of the Change Management system and leads the Change Board Meeting
Exercises initiative, judgement and makes decisions within the scope of authority
Initiates quality programs using quality tools (PDCA, PPAP, APQP)

Technical Skills/Competencies (Technical Knowledge, Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quality and/or Engineering preferred. ASQ, CQE/CQA qualification preferred.
  • Four years of work experience in quality, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and application of Continuous Improvement tools, i.e. Lean, PDCA, 6 Sigma and TOC
  • Knowledgeable in computer skills (CAD systems, Microsoft software, Internet and email)
